What a great word, huh? "beseech"
Anyway, I just wanted to ask you all (beseech you all) for your prayers for Brad, baby, and I as we approach the pending and UNKNOWN date of delivery. (I know the only way for it to be known is to schedule a c-section, but the whole guessing game is getting old, especially now that it really could be any day, but I don't feel like it's ever going to come and I will just be in a perpetual state of pregnancy forever! Eew...Could you imagine?)
For those of you who can't quite remember, the actual Estimated Due Date is January 8 - this coming Monday. I honestly feel the same as I did about a month ago. I haven't really had any contractions worth mentioning or other signs of labor beginning. And when I go for weekly checkups the report is that "nothing is happening". My Dr. isn't worried, though, and at the end of the check-up she always says "If we don't see you before your next appointment, we'll see you then," implying that just because nothing has changed doesn't mean it couldn't all of a sudden start happening one day. So I'm not doomed to being pregnant forever!
So since she's not worried, I try not to worry or be anxious either. She did say this last time (same as what the infamous "What to expect when you're expecting" book says) that some women dilate over the course of a few weeks, and others dilate over the course of a few hours and both are completely in the range of normal. I personally find it a little annoying that just about everything having to do with pregnancy has such a HUGE range of "normal".
I think it would be interesting to hear different pre-labor stories from those who have one or some to share. Were your babies born before or after the due date? How early did you dilate and have contractions or false labor before the baby came? Or did you feel "completely" normal until the delivery day? (Completely normal in the scope of being pregnant, of course!)
And back to the prayers: Please pray for a smooth, uneventful delivery for all three of us; I wouldn't mind if you pray for a short and easy delivery, too! :) Please also pray for a healthy, happy baby, our transition home and all that is involved with taking care of a newborn and recovering from the delivery. I'm so thankful that Brad will be able to take some time off so we will be able to learn together and experience the first days (and nights!)of our child's life together. We are excited!
Also, thank you again, for all the encouragement you sent me about a month ago when I was feeling more nervous than excited. I still have moments of nervousness, but they are brief and Brad and I are mostly just excited to meet this little gift of life. I'm continually learning, lesson after lesson, to rest in the knowledge that God is in control and that He is my strength and comfort. What a gift it is to know our God!

ReplyDeleteI am so excited for the two of you. You are both definitely in my thoughts and prayers. The whole pregnancy and child rearing still scares Josh and I even though I was a nanny for almost 3 years, and still work with children every day, I am just not quite ready to make that leap for myself.
I must say, however, that reading the truthfulness of your blog has always been encouraging, even when you seemed to be discouraged or struggling.
I know you are superbly busy right now, but I would love to re-connect with you. I still have the same email jked0921@yahoo.com, but my work email gets checked more often emily@steppingstonetheatre.org
God Bless

We are praying for the three of you! I understand your fears...twice. It doesn't get easier the second time, but maybe I had special circumstances:). At any rate, each pregnancy is unique with each woman and each child. There are SO many stories out there and it's awesome to connect with people (well, women) who have been there before you yourself go through this "rite of passage" and especially after. I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI could go on and on but will save you from any unsavory stories I could unwittingly scare you with;). Just know that L&D CAN be simple and pain-free. I thank God I had a good experience at least once so I can say that:)!!! Just two pieces of advice. If you feel uncomfortable at ALL with anyone working on you or the baby KICK THEM OUT. Two, drugs are a wonderful thing...if they work!
Call if you ever get bored waiting for baby to make an appearance (being induced is kind of nice:).
LOVE YOU!
Rach
No stories here, hun but just wanted to say I love you and think about you all the time! We're praying for you and the family, especially for health and comfort. K, back to work! See you in a few weeks - I sure hope baby is spankin' brand new so the new parents can have time time alone - but then we'll be there to give you a break, too. This will be interesting to see how Eric reacts to "baby life" - crying in the night, sleeping all day etc.... :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have everything you need already or are you doing any last minute shopping? Maybe there will be things that you realize you need later. Fun. Blessings and good luck! We love ya!
Yep, the "unknown" can drive you crazy! What a fun, exciting, challenging time. In terms of pre-labor/delivery, I would vote for having no pre-labor signs. I was pre-labor (regular contractions, dilating, etc.) for 3-7 days with each of mine. It just about drove me to insanity. Can't wait to hear your "baby story." We'll be praying your way through it, eagerly awaiting the news.
ReplyDeleteHey Brad & Kristen,
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun to keep track of how things are going for you guys!! As far as stories go, no dilating for me; I went to bed every night thinking, this could be it, and then woke up the next morning disappointed that nothing had changed :-) But my water broke three days early and there things went!
Don't be surprised if it's another week, just be excited that you still have that week to yourselves, cuz you never will have that again! ;-)

Ahhhh, we can't WAIT to see pictures! The kids lit up when we told them the news, then looked at the door to see when you were coming (LOL!).
ReplyDeleteWe love you!
PICTURES!!! When do we get to see the princess?! Soon, please. Real life will be better, but we'll make do for now...Love you all!!
