We've experienced our first round of recalled products recentlly. We purchased a "take-along swing" (a small, foldable, portable baby swing) for Cora. We ended up liking it less and less each time we put Cora in it because it seemed to make her crumple up and her head would always sag akwardly to one side, even when she had good neck strength. So we basically stopped using it when she was about 3 months old. Well, end of May it got recalled! We we get to send it back for free and get rid of something we weren't very happy with anyway! Not a bad deal!
Then about 2 weeks ago our neighbor - who used to live in our house - came by with a notification they'd received that our dishwasher has been recalled! So we're getting a new dishwasher! It's a little unnerving to learn that these items could have caused serious harm - and did cause serious harm to someone, leading to the recalls. We're thankful to have been notified before something did happen!

Cora has now decided that sleeping on her tummy in the corner is the way to go. So we lay her in her crib on her back, then she flips over to her stomach, skooches forward a few inches, rolls to her back again, squirms around, back to the tummy, and then proceeds to skooch all the way into a corner. Her last couple naps have been with her face planted in the corner of the crib. At first we didn't have a crib bumper because there was no need. So when she started this ordeal she would scream once she got into the corner because her head was pressed against the crib slats. Ouch! So yesterday we put up the bumper pad and so far it seems to be helping the matter. It does make me a little nervous, though. These are some pictures from the overnight canoe trip Brad planned, organized and executed June 1 & 2 on the Gunnison River. It went off with out a hitch - with 30 people canoeing on Friday, and ten more joining them on Saturday for a total of 40. There were people as young as 6 and as old as 55. I think they canoed a total of 26 miles. Pretty cool! Everyone had a blast. Way to go Brad!
Wow, 2 recalls near the same time. Neat that you'll get a new dishwasher - do they give you money back for the one you have?
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about Cora's sleeping now. I imagine all the bumpers they make now are breathable, but just to make sure I'd check huh? That would scare me, too.

Gosh, the only thing I've ever had recalled was on my car. Scary to have a baby product recalled!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Cora's fine in the corner, there. She might like having the structure around her head like she has in her car seat? Her neck is strong enough to lift her head, and she can skooch backward. So she can make herself comfortable if need be...
Brad's canoe trip sounds amazing! What a feat to pull off! The pictures are beautiful, it must have been incredible! Why didn't you and Cora go? Just kidding...

Isn't it amzaing how the Lord continues to provide for us. A new dishwasher, and swing. I wonder if it was recalled because of the water spots left on someone's fancy dishes. :<)
