Brad's dad has been filling in at our church as the interim pastor since last fall. We have enjoyed many Sundays with them and it's a little sad to see this time come to an end. Cora would often be excited Sunday mornings, asking if she would see Grandma and Grandpa at church that day. Brad and I enjoyed the blessing of hearing Dad preach many Sundays, something we got to enjoy only a little bit while living in LA and they were in Camarillo. We would also hear often from others in the congregation how blessed they were by Brad's parents. After church I was spoiled in having Mom there to get Cora from the nursery and keep an eye on her, allowing me to have the opportunity to actually have a complete conversation with someone, rather than darting off mid-sentence to keep track of Cora. And many weeks we also enjoyed having lunch together after church. Mom and Dad also came for mid-week meetings allowing us more time together, and Brad loved being under Dad's leadership at elders' meetings.
I know they sacrificed by not being able to invest more fully in their own church in Montrose; they spent many, many hours on Hwy 50 making the drive between GJ and their home; and while having only recently retired, spent a lot of time working! I'm so thankful for the extra time it afforded us to spend together as a family, and for the leadership, guidance and teaching our church family received from them also. I know we'll continue to see them often, but we'll miss seeing them regularly on Sundays! Thank you, Mom and Dad, for being a blessing to our church!
Something cute from Cora's mouth - a week or so ago Mom and Dad B. were out here for a meeting Dad had at church. It was Cora's naptime and Mom was at the house with us. I told Cora she needed to go pick out a couple books to read before "resting" (I don't usually use the word "nap" because for some reason it brings objection, and "rest" seems more acceptable to Cora). She went in her room and I followed a minute later to see what she had picked and to start reading. She said to me, emphatically, "Grandma read me. NOT mommy." Well, how do you argue with that? I think it worked out well for all three of us! :) Thanks, Mom!
Lol oh that's too funny. Gotta love that she's attached to Grandma; so healthy! Glad you didn't feel slighted one bit; she obviously adores you!
ReplyDeleteIt was so enjoyable seeing all of you regularly. We will miss the Sundays but look forward to meetings at irregular times.
ReplyDeleteLove you all, Dad
