Peter is sharing his 4-month birthday with his Grandma Bierma today. Happy Birthday, Mom! A little bit about Peter this month:
Weight: 16 lbs
Height: 26 inches
Clothes: 3-6 months, but he's getting too long in the body for some of the outfits.
Routine: Our efforts that I mentioned last month have paid off. Peter's been sleeping all night long, but I still give him a "dreamfeed" at 10:30 pm. I found that if I pump or give him formula in a bottle he eats better and I know he ate enough so I don't worry about him getting hungry in the middle of the night, as opposed to nursing him. Day time is the same as before. However we had a couple weeks this month where he was only taking 45 minute naps, instead of 2 hours. I tried keeping him awake a little bit longer (only an extra 10 minutes!) and that seems to be helping, along with making sure he gets enough stimulation while he is awake. (He's awake for about 70 minutes. Am I crazy?) He also came down with another cold at the same time so maybe that was what made him take longer naps again????
Milestones: He has rolled over from tummy to back a few times, but definitely hasn't mastered this yet. He smiles at almost anyone and very quickly. He giggles for his daddy (I think he's pretty funny, too). Peter is also working very hard at holding on to his toys and getting them into his mouth. He's been drooling a ton so I think we've entered the teething stage, even though he probably won't cut a tooth for a couple months.
Smiles: Peter's smiles are like a drug. I get this nagging feeling that some one's watching me, only to turn and find out that Peter has been staring at me, willing me to look at him. Instantly he rewards me with a big, toothless, open mouthed smile. An automatic response to being smiled at by a baby is to smile yourself, which only causes Peter to smile even bigger, scrunching his nose a little bit on one side while he smiles as big as he possibly can. I find myself in a happy cycle, intoxicating and highly addictive, and wanting it to never end.
Hi Peter! Your auntie Deb loves you so much! It's fun to see how you're changing and growing so quickly! Give your sister and parents a big smile from me, k?
