Well, this has been quite the week for Cora! It all started Sunday night - she went for 8 hours between feedings - which means about 7 hours of sleep for Brad and I. However, I, of course, woke up every other hour and wondered if I should go wake her up and feed her or at least check on her...Then fell asleep before deciding what to do. But so far every night since then she's gone 7 or 8 hours between meals! This is very exciting, and unexpected - but welcome.
Then Monday Brad, Cora and I (and Jack) went to the cabin overnight. Brad needed to get up there to check it out and bring some supplies for this weekend's retreat with the high schoolers. We decided we should just all go. Cora did great. We ended up having to hike in about half a mile due to snow on the road. So I put her in her little snow suit and in the Snuggli, a back pack on my back and Brad hauled the rest up on a sled and his pack (why didn't we make Jack carry anything?).
Some day last week she rolled over from her tummy to her back -- but I think it was kind of a fluke since she hasn't done it again since then.
And best of all, Friday morning she smiled at Brad about 5 times before he left for the retreat! As if he wasn't already going to miss his girls! What a way to send him off! I worked on her all day yesterday and got no smiles...Then today at church as she was being passed around she kept looking at me and smiling - or at least making attempts to smile! It was good enough for me. It's amazing how seeing that little face light up just makes the rest of the pleasures in the world dim in comparison!
Oh yes - she also has found her fingers and has maneuvered her thumb into her mouth two or three times...I thought that was supposed to happen much later! Well, it's still not refined enough that she can do it whenever she wants - it's mostly if she's on her tummy for play time and has her hands conveniently tucked up by her face that she can find them.
What a joy to read and again to maybe see this weekend. Smiles are always welcomed, (even if it comes from a little gas relief). Is she a Schippers or Bierma?
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say she's a little bit of both! Although more people are starting to say she looks like Brad and no one has said she looks like me! One thing's for sure though - she sure seems to like to be on her tummy more than her back. And that's from her daddy.
