Summer Solstice

With a due date of September 15, we have about 3 months to go until our baby is born! I continue to feel really good, although not as energetic as I wish. I'm not dreadfully tired like the first trimester, but I don't feel like I have as much energy as I wish I did. I'm still really comfortable and able to sleep easily. I'm so thankful for a healthy and comfortable pregnancy, so far.

It seems like the baby has changed positions. Up until about a week ago I was feeling some movement, but it felt like he was kicking towards my back or down inside of me. As of this week his movements are much more aimed toward the front of my belly and Brad is able to feel him moving and kicking and even see it sometimes. It's pretty crazy, but this is one of my favorite aspects of pregnancy! This baby is regularly active in the late evening, which it seemed was the same with Cora. (Maybe this is just when I finally sit and rest long enough to feel him moving.)

Cora is talking in full-blown sentences and non-stop! She is very persistent at getting a response to everything she says or asks. Sometimes it's exhausting to try to keep up with her constant conversation, but mostly it's amusing and endearing. And sometimes aggravating. She IS two, after all, and definitely doesn't like to have her ideas turned down, especially when tired! Some of the phrases she has picked up and made her own that get a little annoying are "No, mommy, don't do that." and "Stop that, mommy." How is a mother supposed to react when I'm singing the ABC's and she says "No, Mommy, don't like it." ??? I assume it's the song, and not the singing! :)

Our neighbors handed down a porcelain doll to Cora (apparently we are the last stop before Good Will) and she has been fondly adopted into Cora's entourage of dolls. We were calling her "Dolly" but later realized Cora already has a "Dolly" so when I saw that her tag said her name is "Anna" I started calling her "Dolly Anna" and it stuck. Sadly, Dolly Anna took a fall (before we realized that she was fragile...oops) and had to undergo surgery by Dr. Dad. This involved a recovery period of 30 minutes as the super glue keeping her face together dried. It was pure torture for the first two minutes, until Cora was distracted with something else. (One of the joys of being 2 - easily distracted and a short attention span means that upsets don't last too long.) Later in the day, when Dolly Anna came out of the Post-Op recovery room Cora was very distraught by the scar left on her face. Apparently she didn't think that Dr. Dad was a very good plastic surgeon and she insisted that we clean up her face. (The super glue was quite messy.) I told her we couldn't clean it but Dolly Anna was all better. Cora thought for a minute, then decided that since Dolly Anna had an owie, she needed a band-aid. So here you have it:

Poor Dolly Anna...I decided to put her away in the closet for a while so she could fully recuperate, but...

Tonight as I was putting Cora to bed she said to me "Remember Dolly Anna's owie? Dolly Anna fall. Owie on face. Bandaid on Dolly Anna's face."

Another funny thing that happened tonight: Cora was picking out her bedtime stories and had a stack of 3 Curious George books plus one other book on her bed. We normally only read two books. "That's a whole lot of books, Cora. Please pick two," I said. She picked the other book and "Curious George Rides a Bike", one we're borrowing from the library. She looked at me and said "Curious George Rides Bike, my favorite book."

Later she made that statement that "Curious George" books are her favorite. Well, well, well. There you have it - straight from the mouth of a two year old.

P.S. Had a 28 week prenatal check up today and everything is looking/sounding great. (Heartbeat was 150)
