Two stories

Story #1:
Yesterday morning a dog was barking when Cora woke up (and continued barking most of the morning). When I went in to get her she pointed at nothing in particular and said enthusiastically and urgently, "Dee!" I said "Dee? What's that?" Then she said "oof!" which is her sound for "woof". I said "Oh, do you hear the dog barking?" Cora smiled really big, nodded her head emphatically and patted her leg (the sign for dog). Is she amazing, or what?

Story #2:
I ran to the store this afternoon to pick up some groceries with Cora. We spent a super-enjoyable time meandering through the aisles, marveling at what an abundance of food we are blessed with and listening to a number of "singing cards" in the card aisle (to which Cora bobbed her head and swayed side to side). We were finished filling our cart and I was at the front of the busy store, about to get into a checkout lane when Cora started to vomit. And it kept coming and coming. I could hear it drip on the floor beneath the cart and was trying to catch what I could with my hands, but was helpless to do anything. There were people walking by me, some who were irritated that I was taking up so much of the aisle...They must not have noticed that my daughter was drenched in her own vomit and if I moved my cart they would have walked right through a puddle of it on the floor. I'll spare the rest of the details, but to say the least, I think this is my newest most embarrassing moment.

  1. Ooooh, honey! I'm so sorry for your experience :( It must have been horrible on so many levels. Ultimately, you obviously made it out of the store, so the important thing is that Cora is okay...I hope someone finally stopped to help you!

  2. Oh I agree. How awful! Only a mother would even attempt to catch the vomit. Poor baby. I mean you Kris. And then those people who don't understand or appreciate all you are sacrificing for them. Did you even bother to finish checking out?

  3. Definitely one of those memorable mommy moments! It sounds like you stayed so calm, too.
