Back from the Cabin

After Brad spent a week at Camp Redcloud with the middle schoolers from church we were able to get away as a family to the cabin. It has been a year since Cora and I were at the cabin! Isn't that unbelievable? That is mostly due to all the vehicle issues we had last summer/fall/winter and the expensive gas prices last summer. This spring Brad was able to with Doug, Kris, their kids and Mom and Dad but Cora came down with a nasty cold that turned into an ear infection so I opted to stay home with her. It was good to be back at the cabin. The cabin seems to stand still in time, whether you're there or away. It's as if the rest of the world moves on in its hustle and bustle and the cabin remains a calm constant.

We enjoyed the first evening at the cabin with Brad's parents as they were headed home. We spent part of a day at the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Later in the week Brad's cousin Derek and his wife, Anna, and their baby, Zach, came up to say "Hi" and on Saturday, the 4th, we went to see the 4th of July parade in Buena Vista with them.

The wildflowers are amazing right now. This "bouquet" of columbines was thriving in the rocks right next to the cabin deck.

A bath was necessary after playing in the sand at the sand dunes.

After her bath, Cora warmed up with some hot chocolate and a snuggly blanket.

Cora loved the parade and was enthusiastic about waving her American flag at the paraders.

All tuckered out after an exciting morning.
